Practicing Engaged Citizenship in the City of The Hague

Located in the world's capital of peace and justice, Leiden University College The Hague provides talented, highly motivated students with a first-class liberal arts & sciences education focused on addressing the global challenges of peace, justice, and sustainability. In the classroom, LUC students are trained to think critically about a range of pressing social issues, drawing on the interdisciplinary expertise of the oldest university in the Netherlands. In the community, through a variety of volunteer opportunities, research programmes, and service-learning courses, they put their ideas into action by participating in practical, collaborative efforts to improve the lives of their neighbours in The Hague

As part of our Community Project Course, LUC students volunteer at the Johan de Witt School and the College St. Paul, while also studying about the history, philosophy, and politics of multicultural education.

Education in Action

Lending a Hand

LUC has an active volunteering committee that makes it easy to find ways to get involved in The Hague. Meanwhile, many LUC courses and faculty-led research clinics also offer chances for hands-on work.
